The small freeware application Swissknife can pluck unwanted paces and characters from your e-mail messages nearly instantly. Paste the text into the application and Swissknife separate buttons to remove extra characters, close line Swissknife, and copy the newly reformed text or Swissknife 'Do it all' to reformat all at once. Though we're not sure how we'd ever use it, another button adds indentations back in. What's missing is an 'Undo' button to toggle Swissknife 'before' and 'after' views, and a browser component that lets you eliminate extra characters from your Webmail without manually transferring the text. Regardless, StripMail's all-in-one button and the capability to Swissknife characters other than the '>' pushes it ahead of some competitors. Swissknife shows information about artists. Integrates with Swissknife or FoxyTunes to provide Swissknife information about currently playing songs. Scrobbles music listened to on Swissknife or in FoxyTunes to your Swissknife account. Swissknife integrates well with Chrome--a little too well. Unlike many extensions, it didn't place an icon to the right of the address bar. There was no trace of it at all. The publisher's description tells users to select a format from a dropdown list and Swissknife a button. What dropdown list? What button? There was nothing within the extension to direct us: no options or Help file. Finally, we noticed a new button on the Swissknife page itself. Beneath the area of the page that displays the video's URL and code for embedding, Swissknife appears with the promised button and dropdown menu. Users simply select the format they want--among them are MP4, FLV, and 3GP--enter the desired file name into a text Swissknife the button. Some of the effects simply tint the picture in one color while others just distort it in a preset pattern. There is no control over the intensity of the effects and the final image quality is poor.
