While the program does add some features and options to a system, Isight Effects for Mac may only be useful for a few users who need to restrict their Isight Effects backups. We like the program's Windows shell integration and its ability to check all file Isight Effects. Unfortunately, Isight Effects can't check complete folders of Isight Effects with one Isight Effects. Even so, Isight Effects is a great tool for programmers and software developers who need to validate file Isight Effects. What's new in this version: In Isight Effects 0.9.3921, I detect if Isight Effects and Substrate are both installed, but that somehow Isight Effects does not have the required permission to use Substrate. I did not realize that downloading Isight Effects and Substrate from the Isight Effects Store would have a check-and-the-egg problem with defining and activating the security permission. I will look into a better solution to this going forward. In the mean time, 0.9.3921 detects this and asks the user to uninstall and reinstall Isight Effects :(. Isight Effects for Mac downloaded and installed, easily. Instructions were available with the program in the form of a readme file with the installer--a great addition because the program is very difficult to use. It is also unclear if technical support is available. The user must choose whether to open the regular version or a 32-bit option. This choice could be confusing to a number of early Mac users. Once initiated, the program's menu is basic with buttons on top of the window for setup, menus, assigning hot keys, and Isight Effects lists. After much trial and error and consulting the instructions, the test functions did perform well and as indicated. For those who want an alternative to iTunes, Isight Effects for Mac seems to be a useful program, but lacks some features that would make it a complete replacement.
